RENIE SULLIVAN

We are so blessed as a pickleball community to have many, many amazing members.  Renie Sullivan was one of those members who was always available to step up,  help organize, play and support our pickleball community.  Sadly, Renie passed away last month in October.  Renie was a mother, wife, friend and lover of pickleball and her dogs.  If Renie was not at home caring for her husband and family, she was at the dog park or on the pickleball courts.  Hot, cold, windy, or wet…Renie was always doing what she loved and inspiring others to enjoy each day to it’s fullest.

At the wise age of 85 she was always quick to jump into a game, or sit and chat with one of her many, many friends about life, children, or how lovey it was to live here in Anthem.  Never a complainer…always a kind word to share…and always supporting the members of our club which she viewed as extended family.

In the weeks following her passing the people who knew her best have shared so many stories of her generosity and willingness to help others.  One of her friends described Renie as a person who rarely asked for help…but was always willing to help others.  A long-time co-leader of the Besties, Renie was always welcoming to new players joining the group with a sincere smile and a warm hug.   Another player who knew Renie well said she was always a “soft landing” expressing that Renie was always supportive, while also sharing her life wisdom and perspectives when asked.

Renie was an inspiration to all of us who desire to engage life to it’s fullest and leave a legacy often described as inspiring to those of us who had the pleasure to know her and be affected by her unselfish generosity of her time and friendship.

We miss you Renie. If there is pickleball in heaven…we know where we will find you.
